Research

CVS research interests cover all aspects of vision science, including but not limited to the general topics listed here. In addition to supporting our existing researchers, CVS is committed to the expansion and growth of the vision research community, both in terms of faculty recruitment and new research facilities.

Research Areas

Anterior Segment
Research in the areas of lens and ocular surface include interests in corneal epithelial autografting, as well as pathogens.
Retina and Vasculature
Retinal and vascular research concentrates on cellular physiology of phototransduction and pigment regeneration, development of and imaging of the perfusion systems, as well as adaptation and senescence.
Clinical Trials
Ongoing clinical trials in the UC Davis Medical System for therapies are open to individuals who are interested in helping to improve ocular disease treatments.

Processing
Research concentrates on motion processing and visual decision making, as well as object recognition and feature extraction. Cortical mapping and plasticity is also a core interest...
Development and Aging
On-/off- pathways in the retinal, vascular development in addition to specific research in the geniculo-striate pathways are core interests of CVS researchers.
Disease Mechanisms
Ocular diseases and their origins, processes, and therapies are heavily studied at the CVS, with involved research programs and clinical trials for therapies open to interested individuals...
