Raman spectroscopy. This involves a new kind of imaging using Raman spectroscopy.  With this method, one does not actually extract a structural image, but a spectroscopic signature for various molecules.  In this way, we can look for a variety of substances, including amyloid plaques that may be related to aging. The project cannot, at present, be used in the living eye.  Instead we will start with animal eyes.  We would especially value any help in removing  the retinas from the globe so they can be examined with a system we are building.
Faculty Mentor(s): Dr. Werner
