Core Grant

The vision community at UC Davis is supported in part by a NEI core grant that provides equipment and service modules vital to investigators’ work, but impractical for ownership or maintenance by individual laboratories. The Core Grant supports four common-use facilities for vision researchers: a multi-neuron recording core, histology and electron microscopy core facility, a machine shop for custom fabrication of prototypical devices, and a retinal tissue culture module, which provides sterile facilities and as well as confocal microsopes for culturing and imaging retinal cells in vitro.

Training Grant

Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows seeking training in vision-related research can apply for a position on the NEI-funded Vision Training Grant. Applications must first be made through individual faculty researchers. For more information, please contact Rieko Ringo (rieko.ringo@ucdmc.ucdavis.edu).

Donations

In addition to the core and training grants, the CVS benefits greatly from individual donations. Donated funds help support student travel awards to vision conferences as well as local student seminars and presentations.
